Today is 1st of May, International Workers Day, the day of labour and solidarity. Dating back to the 1880s and born as a result of the worldwide struggle of workers for daily working hours, 1st of May is all the more important today as we come to well realize the importance of solidarity.

I would like to update membership about another session of the Rapid Test Clinic at Gateway Facility. The Rapid Testing Clinic for next weeks is a precautionary measure to protect our asymptomatic members at the workplace.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—an opportunity for us all to reflect on the effects COVID-19 has had on our mental health and well-being. Toronto Local is making this issue a priority and supporting the field on a number of fronts.
Toronto Local met with Canada Post SCLPP management about the staffing proposal on 12th April 2022 for VES, SLB, MANUAL, R&D and PT RVU. The local has presented a counter-proposal. After the discussion at the table:

Toronto Local mourns for all the workers who have sustained injuries including loss of life in all the job sectors. As we ensure that Canada Post must provide safe working conditions and environment to our workers, we will never stop this fight.

Workers have seen how corrupt and authoritarian governments are using the pandemic as a smokescreen to crack down on workers and other people organizing for human rights. We stand in solidarity with movements around the world resisting repression.
