DECEMBER 6th, The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

Sisters and Brothers,

It has been over 30 years since the murder of 14 young women at Polytechnique Montréal (December 6, 1989). This act of violent misogyny shook our country and led Parliament to designate December 6 as The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Everyone has the right to live free from violence. However, many communities across our country continue to face violence every day because of their gender, gender expression, gender identity or perceived gender. This is referred to as gender-based violence (GBV), and is a violation of human rights.

Take a moment to consider what actions you can take to stand up and support against misogyny, sexism and hate to foster a culture of respect.

The local will be holding a virtual vigil to commemorate the December 6th at 7 pm. The webinar link will be posted on local website. https://www.cupw-sttp.ca/bulletins

April 28 Day of Mourning

Dear Postal Workers,

On April 28th, we observe the National Day of Mourning to honour those who have lost their lives or suffered in the workplace. This day also serves as a call to action for stricter safety standards. Let’s stand in solidarity with our fellow Postal Workers, advocating for the vital changes our workplaces need and resisting intimidation from management.
