Toronto Local met with Canada Post SCLPP management about the staffing proposal on 12th April 2022 for VES, SLB, MANUAL, R&D and PT RVU. The local has presented a counter-proposal. After the discussion at the table:
Toronto Local has gained 15 Full-Time jobs for the whole plant in addition to the current staffing profile.
Union asked not to cut any positions at VES as these are the trained employees. Toronto local requested the data cube for VES as we demand no staffing changes.
Manual Section, we are able to keep shift #2 with the same staff, no deletion and gained 10 more-part time positions for shift #3.
Management has proposed to move an hour early start for Manual Section and Toronto Local does not agree with this proposal. We have mentioned hour change will impact our member's work & life balance and our position is NO to the time change. We raise concerns about casuals working in manual Cases and management has committed that there will be no casuals working in manual cases except Christmas peak season. There should not be any cross section. Especially for the manual cases. Management needs stop this cross section.
SLB Section, we are able to keep 15 Full-Time jobs on shift #3 with the same schedule from 4 PM to 12 AM. The new 15 Full-Time schedules will be 6 PM to 2 AM. SLB Section shift #1 will have 25 Fulltime positions.
Union has demanded that all the current vacancies must be filled.
No member will be displaced from SCLPP and the Local union gained more than 15 Full-time positions over all.
April 27, 2022, CPC will start the process of conducting Section Bid for all employees owning a position in one of the above sections.
May 11th, 2022 is the last day to bid.
The Struggle Continues,
In Solidarity

February is Black History Month, a time to celebrate and recognize the incredible contributions of Black Canadians throughout history and today. Let's take this opportunity to reflect on the contributions and to honour our Toronto Local's First Black President Megan Whitfield who left us too early in 2020. Sister Megan shaped our collective history. She remains "Eternal in our Memories". In May, please visit our National CUPW website regarding information about: The Fifth Annual Megan Whitfield Bursary-Inspiring a New Generation of Activist.
Sisters, Brothers, Cousins
CPC management has been moving workers from WPDH to Gateway proper. They claim that the Union was made aware. THIS IS A LIE The Union has NOT received any written notice or proposals including the Team Leader Talk Track which was distributed to our members without our knowledge or consent! At no time has the Union agreed to this movement between WPDH Post Office and Gateway Post Office.
Sisters and Brothers,
On Feb 15th 2025, Toronto Local is scheduling the regular membership monthly meeting in person.
