Update On the Toronto Local Executive Elections

Dear Sisters, Brothers and Comrades

The Local Executive is aware of the March 12, 2023 bulletin by President Qaiser Maroof. The bulletin speaks to President Maroof overturning and redoing both rounds of the 2023 Toronto Local elections.  Late on March 12, 2023 the Toronto Local Executive held an emergency executive meeting to discuss this issue. President Qaiser Maroof was given the opportunity to attend the executive meeting and did not. As such the following motions were unanimously passed by the Toronto Local Executive.

1.     The Toronto Local Executive votes to reverse the decision of Toronto President Qaiser Maroof, made in his bulletin dated March 12, 2023.  Where he has ruled “a new election from start to finish for all the positions be conducted”.  The counting of ballots shall continue as determined by the election committee.

2.     The Toronto Local Executive votes to file a formal complaint and requests an investigation of the acts of interference in the 2023 Toronto Local Executive elections by Qaiser Maroof.  We request he be immediately removed from office pending the completion and decision of the investigation done on behalf of the National Executive Board.

3.        That Toronto Local pay all the expenses for the Third Party ( includes the security) hired by Election Committee to count the Toronto Local second round elections
ballots . The Election Committee will hire the third party to complete the work .

The Toronto Local Executive will endeavour to keep the membership updated on further developments as they occur.

VOTE YES FOR A CLEAR STRIKE MANDATE

Sisters, Brothers, Cousins:

The Corporation is not negotiating in good faith with the National CUPW Negotiators.  In simple terms they have not agreed to any clauses in the Collective Agreement. We cannot sit back and avoid a strike if Canada Post does not continue to negotiate, not this time.  Every member has to come out to vote to protect all of our rights.
