MOTION BY BROTHER JONATHAN SHEPARD, SECONDED BY SISTER CHRISTINE PERRI
Motion to oppose SSD and all work intensification programs.
WHEREAS, the SSD program will result in an increase in repetitive strain injuries for "routers"; WHEREAS, the job title of "router" fundamentally undermines our time value allocation;
WHEREAS, the SSD program will usher in even more destructive delivery models like dynamic routing, thereby increasing the casualization of our job;
REAS, increasing route length will only create a higher injury rate for delivery agents;
WHEREAS, the SSD program will not save space or expenses as it purports to do but will only pad the already fat wallets of business school graduates trying to profit off public services but who otherwise do no meaningful work
WHEREAS, the Scarborough local has denounced the SSD program, and its implementation at 280 progress avenue.
WHEREAS, 66 ray avenue is now being threatened with the implementation of SSD, where carriers are already overburdened and struggling.
BE IT RESOLVED that Local 626 will immediately and publicly call upon Canada Post Corporation commits to ending its reckless SSD program immediately.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the local will issue a public document decrying the issues of SSD already raised in the Scarborough local document.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Union will substantively engage with the steward body on ways to counteract the bosses attacks on our jobs.

April 28 Day of Mourning
Dear Postal Workers,
On April 28th, we observe the National Day of Mourning to honour those who have lost their lives or suffered in the workplace. This day also serves as a call to action for stricter safety standards. Let’s stand in solidarity with our fellow Postal Workers, advocating for the vital changes our workplaces need and resisting intimidation from management.
