Sisters and Brothers:
The Local has attended several meetings with the Corporation
on issues that we believe are directly related to the Modern
Post.
One of these consultations was on the backless sortation
cases being implemented in the Mech Prime section. The Union
argued about a proper rotation of duties schedule and was
successful in getting a rotation that worked for the members;
this delays the implementation until June 1, 2010.
Adelaide Final Sort is moving into the SCLPP plant starting
the end of May, beginning of June depending on if the
Corporation can get the job done properly. It remains to be
seen. As of result of this final sort being moved to the South
Plant we have gained 3 Full Time and 1 Part Time position, which
has been advertised in the monthly bid.
Management had informed the Union that South Central would be
getting 44 MLOCR’s installed. This week we were informed that
due to limited space, there would be only 40 installed, again
this is bad planning and things change from week to week.
Management also informed us that the FSM’s (16) would be
moved to the Gateway Postal Facility by sometime in 2012. We
asked how much impact there would be on the members and they
responded they are not sure of the impact and they said they
would review and respond. We advised that this is not fair to
our members; they have a right to know where they would be
working. As of yet we have not received anything in writing but
will advise the members as soon as we are aware.
The Union has asked the Corporation for a Day Shift Study as
provided in the collective agreement; they will get back to us.
The Union also asked for an Ergonomic Assessment Study on the
new equipment, they replied that they would review and respond.
We would hope that these studies have already been conducted;
after all, it is the Health and Safety of our members that
should be most important to Moya and the team.
The Union is getting weekly changes to the notices on tech
change and will continue to keep the membership informed. We are
asking that the membership stick together. Read the bulletin
boards and wear your sticker to show the boss that we stand
united. You should also be aware that the National, Regional,
and Local would be having regular negotiations on the Modern
Post in Toronto.
