MEANINGFUL CONSULTATION???
GATEWAY STAFFING
Sisters and Brothers:
When the Union met with the employer to
hand in our staffing proposal, we thought that the employer
wanted a plant that would run well taking into consideration the
mail being processed and the wellbeing of our members. Our
proposal was built on the information provided by the employer
on arrival and dispatch times, and more important it worked.
Management’s actions just make no sense.
Management had their own agenda that we
believe revolves around the Modern Post and the deletion of our
jobs, the Unions proposal was better and made more sense for the
Membership and the Corporation. We met all their demands and
time schedules. It is clear that the Corporation had no respect
for the membership, or their families, and decided to uproot the
member’s shifts and cause undo stress in their family lives.
Shame on them.
Grievances will be filed by the Union
against Management for not having meaningful consultation for
both staffing and annual leave consultations held by the
employer.
The Union does not agree with the
employer’s position on staffing and are not participating in the
actual bid. However, we encourage the members to have a shop
steward present when it is your time to bid.
This year our Negotiations begin and the
employer will try all kinds of games to test the membership.
They will try to keep the membership doubtful about their
future. We cannot allow them to succeed. Watch the bulletin
boards for bulletins asking for contract demands in the near
future. This is the time to put clear language in our
collective agreement to protect our jobs. It is time for
your voice to be heard.
